Non-Profits &

Government Work

Big ideas, real impact.

We’re living in a community.” … “It takes a village.”  … “If you want to lift up yourself, lift up someone else.” … “Be the change you want to see in the world.”

Pick your favorite. We like them all. That’s why we cut our rate in half for non-profits and advocacy work. We do most of our non-profit work with the 50+ community, groups committed to helping people with substance use disorder, and Veterans, but we’ll work with anyone or any group we believe in. We mean it when we say our mission is to make the world a little better – one story at a time!

We help groups accomplish goals by leveraging the power of storytelling, often starting at the beginning, crafting a strategy and then deploying it, creating narratives that move whatever needles are needed. From large scale public information campaigns to basic explainer videos and points in between, it’s our privilege to help where we can!!

A few of our favorite clients…

AARP NC

We’ve been working with AARP NC since our inception in 2017. We’ve completed dozens of projects with AARP NC featuring messaging targeting the 50+ community.

From voter engagement campaigns to videos celebrating community endeavors, we’ve helped AARP NC communicate with seniors and educate people in North Carolina about issues that are important to the aging population.

Recently, we’ve produced videos encouraging lawmakers to reduce prescription drug prices and pass legislation to help people save for retirement, videos supporting North Carolina’s All Ages, All Stages campaign, videos celebrating AARP’s “Community Challenge Grant Winners,” videos supporting efforts to rethink guardianship laws in North Carolina, encouraging seniors (& everyone!) to get informed and engaged in elections, and videos encouraging livable communities and  healthy living.

We also spearheaded a half-hour “Scam Jam” special featuring NC AG Josh Stein, NC SOS Elaine Marshall, and NC COI Mike Causey that was viewed at senior centers around the state in the summer of 2024 and we continue to produce Fraud Watch Minutes, now in Season Four – short videos showcasing current scams targeting seniors that are pushed out on AARP social media channels bi-monthly.

The Governor’s Institute

CampSight has had the extraordinary privilege to support the Governor’s Institute ever since we hung out our shingle. We work closely with the non-profit’s communications team and leadership, primarily using video to capture stories that support the incredible work they do around substance use disorders and Veterans in North Carolina.

On the Veteran front, we’ve been a primary storyteller for the Governor’s Working Group, we spearheaded the development of helpNCvets.org, produced a PSA and the online video series “Words to Live By” about veteran suicide, helped promote the Veteran Support Services (VSS) program in North Carolina, made the promotional video for the state’s “Ask the Question” campaign to help veterans get benefits they’ve earned, worked with the Fayetteville Woodpeckers to make a Veteran-oriented video played before each game, and worked extensively to celebrate and educate people on North Carolina’s Veteran Drug Treatment Courts.

In the Substance Use Disorder arena, we’ve made videos being shown everywhere from Jumbotrons in sports stadiums to TVs in medical/doctoral classrooms nationwide. We produce the GI’s “Be a Superhero” campaign videos, working with teams like the NC Courage and NCCU’s Men’s Basketball coach LeVelle Moton to educate people about stigma and harm reduction around SUD, we’ve made an hour long documentary celebrating harm reduction efforts in North Carolina, produced half-hour educational videos shown to medical school graduates nationwide, highlighted the work of multiple smaller agencies working in the SUD field, and much more.

Personally, I’ve also had the honor of hosting myriad podcasts and forums for the Governor’s Institute (including a 5-part educational series helping veterans make the transition to higher education). Two decades in the news has left me with a voice people seem to like and a curious personality that seems to be well suited to hosting round-tables, giving presentations and holding court in general.

Friends of Residents in Long-Term Care

FOR – Friends of Residents in Long Term Care – is one of the most laudable groups in the state and I’m grateful to have the opportunity to work with the advocacy group. The group is as it says: friends and supporters of people who are living in long term care. This is a group that often can’t advocate for themselves, it’s a group that often gets overlooked in the clutter of considerations, and it’s a group that we may all someday be a part of. And for folks in that group, they could use friends who have a voice. That’s where FOR comes in. They give voice to the voiceless. And CampSight helps them amplify that voice. Through COVID, we helped FOR take their annual fundraiser online, pre-producing the hour long galas and we’ve worked with the group on a fundraising and “get-to-know-us” campaign.

Here’s a look at one of our signature projects with FOR, a partnership with NC State that let us completely overhaul the way residents in long term care learn about their own primary means of advocacy: Resident Councils.
